11 Reasons Why Meditation Is The Greatest Lucid Dreaming Technique In The World

What does lucid dreaming actually mean?

To be aware while dreaming.

Meditation is without a doubt the best technique for increasing your awareness. See where I’m going?

And what do you think would happen if you increased your awareness so much that you were always aware?

100% Lucidity 24/7

If you build up your awareness to high enough levels you would always know you were dreaming (in theory).

11 reasons why you must start meditating yesterday:

1 – Remember your dreams easier

When you meditate your awareness improves. When you’re more aware of what is going on it’s much easier to remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning.

2 – You never forget your dreams

Dreams are hard to remember because they are stored away somewhere in your subconscious. That doesn’t mean you forget them. When you’re in a meditative trance it’s easy to tap into your subconscious and remember dreams that happened a long time ago. It’s why I told you it’s OK to write down 3 dream seeds if you don’t have much time in the morning. You’ll still be able to go back to your dreams if you have some kind of reminder.

3 – Staying still/ Keeping your eyes closed

Meditation is like a relaxant for the mind. The more you meditate, the calmer you will be. When you have a calm mind things like staying still and keeping your eyes closed become much easier.

4 – Instant lucid dreams

When you wake up in the morning it’s easy to go straight back into a dream while remaining lucid. Your mind will already be in an alternate state of consciousness before you fully awaken. When you meditate it’s much easier to shift your awareness back onto the dream and go straight back inside. It’s the easiest way to lucid dream, but meditation makes it much easier.

5 – Staying calm inside the dream

You get emotional inside a lucid dream. When you lose control of your emotions you can wake yourself up. Meditation means you’ll be able to control your emotions much easier and stay in the dream.

6 – Staying inside the dream for longer

The whole idea of lucid dreaming is awareness. If you lose awareness you will fall back into a normal dream and lucidity is gone. If the dream starts to crumble around you it’s hard to remain inside. To do it you need to keep your awareness focused on the dream. Meditation makes it much easier for focus on the dream, and not waking up.

7 – Having more control inside the dream

The fun thing about lucid dreaming is being able to manipulate the dream world. This can sometimes be hard or near impossible. It takes time and practice. Meditation helps you control your mind a lot easier and cuts down on the practice time. Your lucid dreams will be much more fun when you meditate.

8 – The lucid trance

When I practice the lucid trance I have much more spontaneous lucid dreams without doing anything else. I’ll just be walking around and suddenly come to the realization I’m dreaming. I believe it’s the best lucid technique available and it involves becoming good at meditation first.

9 + 10 + 11 The other main techniques

Reality checks, lucid affirmations and visualizations are all fantastic little tricks, but let’s be honest – they are basically forms of meditation (or hypnosis).

Reality checks

When you perform a reality check you aren’t just looking at something. You are focusing your whole awareness onto it. You are staring at the digital watch/hand and you are concentration on a thought:

Am I Dreaming?

Verdict = Meditation

Lucid affirmations

You are repeating affirmations over and over to your subconscious mind in the hope that it listens.

Verdict = Hypnosis

Visualizations

When you are trying to picture a scene out of a dream you are concentrating hard on the actual scene. Nothing else matters. Eventually you will be fully immersed in the scene and the little voice in your head will cease to exist.

Verdict = Meditation

It comes down to this

Those 3 techniques are great little tricks and they’re easy to perform, but they are basically all built on alternate states of consciousness.

You need to start meditating, I’ve already said it a hundred times and I’ll say it a hundred more. To get started you can check out this easy to follow beginners method.

I hope you can see that meditation and lucid dreaming and like two peas in a pod. Meditation is needed to speed up results and enable you to become the lucid dreamer you want to be.
